Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, has been instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen's groundbreaking maiden Bundesliga win.

The team clinched their first-ever German league title by overpowering Werder Bremen 5-0 on April 14, courtesy of goals by the Nigerian forward and teammates, Granit Xhaka and Florian Wirtz.

Die Werkself won the title with five games to spare, amassing an impressive 79 points from 29 matches to end Bayern Munich's 12-year reign.

Despite missing the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) due to injury, Boniface bounced back stronger, bagging 18 goals and giving eight assists in 27 matches so far.

Looking ahead, the forward expressed the team's ambition to secure a treble, as their exceptional season could lead to further success.

They are unbeaten in 43 matches across all competitions, have progressed to the DFB-Pokal final, and have a UEFA Europa League quarter-final second leg to play, as reported by Eurosport.

They face FC Kaiserslautern in the German Cup final on May 25, as clear favourites. Before that, they must navigate past West Ham United, having already defeated David Moyes' side 2-0 in the first leg.

Boniface is not backing down and is relishing the chance to lift even more silverware with manager, Xabi Alonso.

"It doesn’t stop here so we have to push hard. We know we won the league; it’s a big achievement for us. But we also have two things we are aiming at. So if we can have the perfect three, of course, we will celebrate more," he said, as quoted by Daily Post Nigeria.

Boniface speaks after trolling Kudus

Sports Brief reported that Boniface discussed his trolling goal celebration against West Ham in their 2-0 Europa League quarter-final first-leg victory at the BayArena.

The 23-year-old mimicked Mohamed Kudus’ celebration after doubling the lead in added time against the Hammers but said this was just a spur-of-the-moment decision.
