  • Chelsea have been instructed not to sign Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window
  • The Blues are one of the clubs monitoring the Nigerian international's situation at Napoli
  • The Super Eagles striker signed a new contract with the Italian Serie A side in December

Former Arsenal midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, has warned Chelsea against signing Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, from Napoli in the summer transfer window.

The Nigerian international has been linked with a move away from the Italian side, with top clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain all showing interest.

After signing a new contract with Napoli late last year, the Super Star has around €120-€130 million in his release clause.

Chelsea are desperate for a reliable striker in the summer. Nicolas Jackson has failed to meet expectations since joining the Blues last year from Villarreal.

In an interview with Genting, as per Complete Sports, Petit claimed that Chelsea does not need either Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres next season.

"I don't think Chelsea need Gyokeres or Osimhen," the 1998 World Cup winner said.

The former Barcelona midfielder disclosed why the Blues shouldn't go for the Nigerian striker and the Sporting Lisbon forward.

"With Chelsea, there are so many players who are not playing to their level and can do so much more," he added.

The Nigerian striker could return to French Ligue 1 if he is signed as a replacement for outgoing Kylian Mbappe by PSG.

Arsenal are also monitoring the 25-year-old striker's situation at Napoli and could make a move to the Emirates in the summer.
