Nigeria forward, Victor Boniface, has shared his excitement after scoring to help Bayer Leverkusen to a late win over a stubborn West Ham United in the Europa League.

The 23-year-old climbed off the bench to score his first goal since making an injury comeback as the German outfit secured a 2-0 win in the first leg of the quarter-final clash.

"I feel happy you know. It is not easy being injured for two, three months. I missed a lot of games so coming back to try to help my team, so I am really happy," he said in a post-match presser, as sighted on social media.
"He (Xabi) abi told me that we should try to keep the ball and not lose it easily," he added.

The Nigerian rose high to head home a Jonas Hoffman cross in the 91st minute to seal the victory, before hitting the Mohammed Kudus celebration.

"We knew the type of game West Ham plays, so the most important thing was for us to keep playing our style and be patient and we had one or two chances and we converted," he continued.

Boniface is yet to make his first start for the club since coming back from injury, but the Super Eagles star is not worried about entering games as a substitute.

"I am looking forward to helping my team any time I am called upon. We have a game on Sunday, which is a big game for us," added the attacking midfielder.

Bayer Leverkusen could win the German Bundesliga on Sunday if they beat Werder Bremen, as reported by Fox Sports.
