  • Napoli have reportedly identified a Chelsea transfer target as replacement for Victor Osimhen
  • The Serie A champions could lose their Nigerian goal machine to another top European team
  • Osimhen recently inked a new contract with the Italian club but is anticipated to still leave

Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen, has continually been linked with a move away from Napoli in the summer, with multiple top clubs in Europe showing interest.

The Nigerian striker signed a new short-term contract with the Serie A champions in December last year, with the deal expected to keep him playing in Italy until 2026.

However, reported interest from Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United could end his relationship with the Parthenopeans at the end of this season.

With Osimhen's departure said to be imminent, Napoli is already seemingly planning for life without the Nigerian international and are linked with different strikers, including Super Eagles star, Victor Boniface.

According to a report by Italian media outlet, La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Parthenopeans are said to have identified Chelsea transfer target, Jonathan David, as the perfect replacement for Osimhen this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly planning to sign a new striker in the summer with Osimhen and David on their transfer list, but the possibility of the Nigerian joining the Blues could see the Canadian international will move to Italy.

David is having an impressive season with OSC, scoring 23 goals and providing seven assists in 39 appearances.

Another striker who is said to be on Napoli's wishlist as Osimhen's replacement is Feyenoord's Santiago Gimenez.

Drogba hails Osimhen’s incredible goal

Sports Brief earlier reported on Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba showering praises on Osimhen after the striker scored a superb header in Napoli's win over Monza in a Serie A encounter.

The 25-year-old forward’s header stole the spotlight, drawing praise from various quarters, and the latest to commend the Nigerian star was the Ivory Coast and Chelsea icon.

The height at which Osimhen connected with the ball was measured at two metres and 23 centimetres, showcasing not just his footballing skill, but also some remarkable athleticism.
