Bernardo Silva swiftly put the visitors ahead in just two minutes from a freekick, capitalising on a mistake by goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.

Why De Bruyne missed Madrid's game

Meanwhile, De Bruyne's absence from the Manchester City line-up during the quarter-final first leg was unexpected.

He was missing from the pre-match warm-up and didn't make an appearance throughout the game.

Pep Guardiola explained why he dropped the in-form midfielder ahead of kick-off.

Speaking to TNT Sports via Talksport, he said: "Vomit. He feels unwell."

Rodrygo hits CR7's 'Siuu'

Sports Brief also reported that in the same game, Rodrygo Goes honoured Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday evening during Real Madrid's eagerly awaited UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with Manchester City.

His goal sent the Bernabeu faithful into bliss, but it was his choice of celebration that soon captured the attention of many.

The Sao Paulo-born winger opted to pay homage to Ronaldo, whom he greatly admires. To commemorate his goal, he performed CR7's iconic 'Siuu' celebration.
