FootballUCL: Why Bayern Fans Are Banned from Emirates as Arsenal Issue Warning to Their Supporters
- Arsenal have a slight advantage ahead of the Champions League clash against Bayern
- Bayern fans will not be allowed into the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, April 9
- The Gunners have sounded a warning to their fan base about trying to sell their tickets
Arsenal fans have been given a stern warning ahead of the club’s crunch Champions League quarter final first leg against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
Bayern have been banned from bringing supporters to the Emirates, meaning they will have to endure 90 minutes of the tie without any backing from their fans.
The sanction was imposed on the German giants after unsavoury scenes in the previous round, where unscrupulous fans threw fireworks onto the pitch during the 3-1 win over Lazio.
Bayern have been previously slapped with a one-match ban and fined £34,000 fine over a similar incident in October 2023 when fans set off fireworks during their game against Copenhagen.

The club’s CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen reluctantly welcomed the punishment imposed on the club, blaming “a small group of individual offenders who have done a disservice to all our supporters and the team.”
Arsenal’s warning to fans
While Bayern are in trouble because of unruly fans, Arsenal are also wary of the situation. The club also took steps to avoid a repeat of what happened in 2017 during their Europa League clash against FC Cologne.
During that game, sections of Cologne fans somehow gained access to the home section of the Emirates, according to talkSPORT.
Arsenal, in a message to supporters, warned them against selling tickets to Bayern fans who intended to sneak into the game to sit amongst the home crowd.
“Any season-ticket holder or Arsenal member’s seat found to be in possession of an away fan will be suspended indefinitely,” the club said, as per Football London.

FootballMeanwhile, Bayern has also urged supporters not to travel to London for the game. Only 200 tickets will be made available for the team’s friends and family. Around 20 senior club officials are expected to be in the director’s box.
The Arsenal side that lost to Bayern
Sports Brief also reported on the last Arsenal side to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
At the time, the Gunners suffered a humiliating 10-2 aggregate defeat in what was Arsene Wenger’s last Champions League campaign with the club.
