  • England will face Belgium in a friendly match later tonight
  • They lost their first friendly game of the break, 1-0 to Brazil
  • The Three Lions will wear nameless shirts for the encounter

England will play Belgium in their second friendly match of the first international break of the year, the last before the European Championship in Germany.

They lost their first match at the Wembley Stadium to South American powerhouse Brazil, thanks to 17-year-old striker Endrick’s first international goal.

They will be without key names from the previous game, Kyle Walker and Harry Maguire, who walked out of the last match injured and returned to their clubs.

They were without captain and all-time top scorer Harry Kane and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka for the loss to Brazil. Both players withdrew due to injuries.

Why will England wear nameless shirts?

The Three Lions will wear their new white kit by Nike to face the Red Devils tonight but with a key difference. The shirts will bear only numbers and not player names for the second half.

Per England Football, this is to raise awareness towards Alzheimer's disease and emphasise memory loss as one of the symptoms.

“The names will disappear from the players’ shirts when they return to the pitch after halftime, drawing attention to how people with dementia lose precious memories, even the names of their favourite football players,” an official statement reads.

The shirts will be donated and auctioned to raise crucial funds to support Alzheimer’s Society research into early diagnosis as part of the FA’s official charity partnership with the organisation.

Per Arsenal.com, Southgate confirmed Gunners star Declan Rice, who will receive his 50th international cap, will skipper the side, while Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo could earn his first start.

White slammed for rejecting England's call

Sports Brief previously reported on Ben White rejecting England's call to take part in the March international break friendly games against Brazil and Belgium.

The Arsenal defender has not been part of the national team since leaving the team camp in Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup after an alleged issue with Gareth Southgate’s assistant.
