  • Chelsea beat Manchester United through Cole Palmer's late goals
  • Cristiano Ronaldo sent out a tweet almost at the full-time whistle
  • The Al-Nassr star left Old Trafford after a spat with Erik ten Hag

Manchester United fans have descended on Cristiano Ronaldo after their former player put out a perfectly timed tweet following their 4-3 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

United appeared to be taking all three points away from the capital, but two late goals from Cole Palmer rescued Mauricio Pochettino's men from the embarrassment.

The Blues went 2-0 up inside the first 20 minutes but ended the first half at 2-2 after two defensive errors allowed United back in it through Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.

Late drama ensued in West London after Palmer scored his second penalty following Diogo Dalot's foul on Noni Madueke. The former Manchester City star won it with a deflected strike.

Ronaldo trolls Man United?

Ronaldo shared a photo on his social media pages. The photo showed him in Al-Nassr colours beside a Saudi Arabia flag, captioned “Happy Days.”

The timing of the post is causing a stir online as it went up almost immediately Palmer equalised for the Blues before adding a winner seconds later and the Red Devils were condemned to a crushing defeat.

The post caused division in the comments section, with some in the United fanbase claiming he was mocking the team and venting their frustrations at him.

His contract was mutually terminated after an explosive interview that ‘disrespected’ Ten Hag and criticised the club. He joined Al-Nassr for a world-record salary, as noted by CNBC.

United's woes could continue on Sunday as they face fiercest rivals and league leaders, Liverpool, at Old Trafford.

De Gea pokes fun at Ronaldo

Sports Brief reported on De Gea poking fun at Ronaldo after the Portugal international announced the launch of his new brand, a wellness app, on social media.

The former goalkeeper replied with a gif image of a post-match interview shortly before the 39-year-old arrived at United for a second spell, and he pretended like he didn't know who he was.
