Chelsea forward, Nicolas Jackson, is one of the many Senegalese who celebrated the inauguration of the new President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Faye became the youngest African president after winning the general election in March, replacing Macky Sall as the West African nation's new head of state.
The 44-year-old was sworn into office on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, as the people of Senegal took to the streets of Dakar to celebrate a change in their political leadership.
Jackson, who has been preparing with his Chelsea teammates ahead of their Premier League clash against Manchester United, took to social media to congratulate the new President.

"Our new president of the Republic of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, was sworn in this morning in Dakar. Congratulations to him, his coalition, and the Senegalese people. Peace and prosperity in Senegal," he posted on Instagram.
Meanwhile, during the international break, the captain of the Teranga Lions, Kalidou Koulibaly also disclosed the team's desire to meet Mr Faye.
“I think like I said before, it was the people who won. The people voted the people made this choice,” he told Wiw Sport.
“The most important thing is that the people are happy. Because all Senegalese people are happy today. Congratulations to our new president. We can't wait to see him, to meet him so we can talk with him. We will try to make him proud as we did with the presidents who preceded him.”
