  • Ghanaian politician Nana Asare Bediako has disclosed his sports plans
  • The New Force leader has a desire to buy Chelsea or Manchester United
  • Nana Bediako is expected to contest for president in Ghana in December

Nana Kwame Bediako, the leader of a new political movement in Ghana, the New Force, has opened up on his grand sports plan to buy English club Chelsea or Manchester United.

The wealthy businessman started a nationwide tour to deliver his campaign message to Ghanaians ahead of the December 2024 general election.

Cheddar disclosed his dreams of leading the country last year and has since been galvanising support across the country.

During the week, the New Force leader was in Kumasi, where he disclosed plans of either purchasing Chelsea or Manchester United to prove Africans are powerful.

“As I sit here I hope to raise money to buy Chelsea at the blind side of the public or buy Manchester United and show the white man that the Black man is also powerful. I would like to invest and have an African Champions League just like what pertains in Europe," he told Nhyira FM, as quoted by My Joy Online.
“Let’s build strong leagues in Africa so that we can sell our players outright to Europe instead of smuggling players through dubious means for peanuts,” he added.

Mr Bediako is expected to go through all the necessary political procedures to earn his place on the ballot box for December's polls.

Meanwhile, he becomes the second Ghanaian politician to express a desire to own an English football club.

In 2022, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, referred to as Chairman Wontumi, submitted a bid to buy Chelsea after Roman Abramovich put the club up for sale, according to Pulse Sports.

Later that year, Ghanaian Parliamentarian, Honourable Isaac Adongo went viral for comparing the country's economy to Harry Marguire's performances.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that a Ghanaian politician and businessman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako presented a bid to buy Chelsea after ex-owner Roman Abramovich placed the club for sale.

However, his desire to own the club failed to come true after American businessman Todd Boehly purchased the Premier League side.

The business magnate also had intentions of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Vinicius Jnr together at the London club.
