  • Leandro Trossard left his Belgian compatriot Jeremy Doku for dead with a sublime skill
  • Both players were introduced in the second half of the Manchester City vs Arsenal clash
  • Liverpool were the biggest beneficiaries of the draw as they went two points clear at the top

Manchester City and Arsenal played out to a goalless draw on March 31 to add another dynamic to the 2023/2024 Premier League title race.

The stalemate at the Etihad Stadium benefitted Liverpool, who opened a two-point gap at the top of the table following their 2-1 win over Brighton earlier in the day.

Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta cancelled out each other, with the latter nullifying the strengths of the hosts with a solid defensive setup.

Centre-back pairing William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes managed to frustrate leading scorer Erling Haaland, with the Citizens struggling all round to break down Arsenal's low block.

With no major chances or goals to talk about, the main talking points were reduced to the silky moves employed by the players as the game progressed.

Trossard's skill on Doku

In one instance, Leandro Trossard left Jeremy Doku for dead with a quick movement of feet. The Belgian left his compatriot on the turf with the silky skill, leaving fans on social media dazed.

Here is a video of that incident

Both players were second-half substitutes and just a couple of days earlier, were in the Belgian camp together, where they drew against Ireland and England in international friendlies.

There is still all left to play for after the result, with Manchester City now trailing Liverpool by three points. Manchester City play Aston Villa and Crystal Palace next before facing Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Arsenal, meanwhile, entertain Luton and Brighton before that crunch Champions League tie against Bayern Munich. At the same time, Liverpool have a date with Sheffield United, a rematch with Manchester United next weekend before facing Atalanta in the Europa League.

Why Manchester City won't win EPL

Sports Brief has also broken down why Manchester City will not win the Premier League title this season.

Guardiola's side drew with Arsenal on March 31, handing the advantage to their competitors.

Unlike previous seasons, the defending champions have to fend off competition from two strong opponents.
