Sports Brief looks at five of their players who could move to bigger clubs next season.

Bayer Leverkusen stars set for big moves

1. Florian Wirtz

The German youngster spent most of the 2022/23 season dealing with an ACL injury. His return to top form is incredible, considering the nature of the injury. He has scored 11 goals and provided 17 assists in all competitions. Clubs like Manchester City are said to be interested, but he could stay at the Bay Arena for one more season.

2. Victor Boniface

The Nigerian striker has been in hot form and also dazzling fans on social media comically. He hit 25 goals and assists in 23 games before a groin injury in January, which ruled him out of AFCON 2023 where Nigeria reached the final. Per Sky Germany, he has a release clause of £47 million and is attracting interest from England and Italy.

3. Jeremy Frimpong

The Dutch right-back has produced an incredible 22 goal contributions in 33 games this season from full-back and is one of Alonso’s most potent weapons. Manchester United were all over him in the summer, but Bayern and Liverpool have joined the race after his performances this season.

4. Alex Grimaldo

The Spanish full-back runs business on the left side of the defence as Frimpong is sorting things on the right. The two defenders have hit form for Leverkusen, propelling them to history. The 28-year-old is one of the experienced legs in the team. He has contributed to 26 goals in 37 appearances. Per Goal, he expressed the desire to return to his former club, Barcelona.

5. Edmond Tapsoba

The Burkina Faso international’s future is attached to Alonso's. Per Planet Football, the manager said he would aim to take the centre-back with him to his next job. Bayern and Liverpool are his likeliest destinations.

Honourable mentions: Odilon Kossounou, Jonathan Tah, Pierro Hincapie.

Five clubs Alonso could manage next

Sports Brief previously analysed five clubs Alonso could manage next whenever he decides to end his glorious time at Bayer Leverkusen, including three of his former clubs.

Bayern Munich, in their usual way of raiding other German clubs of their best talents, have set sights on the man who could break their stronghold on the Bundesliga crown.
