Barcelona will always hold a special place in Lionel Messi's heart.

The Argentinian player spent 17 seasons at the club and became undoubtedly the greatest player to wear the Catalan side's kit.

While he may have left in 2021 and subsequently joined Paris Saint-Germain, the decision was never his and wasn't easy to accept.

As noted by Football Espana, the World Cup winner again opened up on his departure from the club, describing how difficult it was.

“The change was difficult when I went to PSG because I was doing very well in Barcelona, and I planned to stay there. I was not prepared to leave, everything happened very quickly, I had to rebuild my life from one day to the next," he said.
"It was a change that we were not looking for, and that is why it was difficult at first,” the Ballon d'Or winner added.

Why did Messi leave Barcelona?

As the Inter Miami star touched on before, leaving the La Liga giants was never his intention.

Messi was ready to sign a new deal with the side, but Barca could not afford to keep him.

90 MIN reported that the club were trying to reduce their wage bill in order to keep Messi and not fall foul of Financial Fair Play rules, but were unable to sign him, despite him offering to take a pay cut.

As a result, he became a free agent and joined PSG in Ligue 1.

What TV show does Messi love?

While his life may seem to revolve around football, Messi also has a life outside of the game and was recently quizzed about it.

The 36-year-old admitted that he enjoys watching television series, and Messi added that Game of Thrones was his favourite of all time.

The Inter Miami star and his wife even met Kit Harington, the actor who played Jon Snow in the series, Sports Brief reported.
