Despite the return of the superstar, he was powerless to stop his team from succumbing to a 2-0 defeat in Ljublana, per BBC.

After a goalless first half, midfielders Adam Cerin and Timi Elsnik came up with the goods as Slovenia pulled out a surprise result against the Euro 2016 winners.

Ronaldo’s selfie moment

It was a frustrating evening for Ronaldo, but the Al-Nassr forward still showed his class with a delightful moment involving a pitch invader.

It is not uncommon to see fans taking their chances to storm the pitch in a bid to meet their idols, and this was the case on Tuesday as a daring spectator ran up to Ronaldo to attempt to take a selfie with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Rather than dismissing the fan, Ronaldo accorded him a few seconds as the pair posed for a photo, to the amusement of the referee and Portugal defender Pepe.

The incident took place in the 42nd minute when the scores were deadlocked at 0-0.

What next for Cristiano Ronaldo?

Portugal have already qualified for Euro 2024, so the defeat to Slovenia will not bother Ronaldo too much.

The 39-year-old is now set to return to the Middle East to rejoin his team Al Nassr as they prepare to face Al-Tai in a league match on Saturday, March 30, per GOAL.

Al Nassr sits 12 points behind league leaders Al Hilal after 24 games.

Jude Bellingham’s heartwarming gesture

In other news, Sports Brief reported on Jude Bellingham’s gesture before England’s friendly game against Belgium.

Cameras caught the Real Madrid star as he ensured that the mascot was warm enough during the national anthems.

With the rain pouring down at Wembley, Bellingham was spotted taking off his jacket and wrapping it around the youngster, who was in a wheelchair.
