According to talkSPORT, Mudryk stepped up to rescue his country, with his 84th-minute stunner getting the job done.

Ukraine found themselves trailing at the break after Albert Gudmundsson opened the scoring for Iceland in the 30th minute.

However, upon the resumption of the second half, Ukraine restored parity through Viktor Tsygankov.

The BBC reports that Mudryk went on to score the winner with six minutes left on the clock as Serhiy Rebrov's men stormed to victory.

Following the win, Ukraine will go into Group E, at the Euro 2024 finals in Germany: alongside Belgium, Slovakia, and Romania.

Mykhailo Mudryk's struggles at Chelsea

Meanwhile, Mudryk's crucial goal for Ukraine comes at a time when he is struggling for form at Chelsea.

The winger has endured a frustrating spell with the Blues since he joined them in January 2023 for a massive £89million.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk star managed only five goals in 43 appearances across competitions for the club.

He will be hoping to build on the momentum from the international break when Chelsea takes on Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday, March 30.

Mudryk gifts fan new phone

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Mudryk warming hearts after he gifted one of his loyal fans a brand-new phone.

The winger had joked during the last international break that he would have to buy the fan a phone to help him store more of his photos from his appearances for Chelsea.

His gesture sparked reactions from fans on social media, with some praising the Ukrainian's kindness.
