The former Bendel Insurance defender started the game against the Black Stars and produced a solid performance that earned him plaudits from fans and Nigerian football experts.
Tanimu filled the void left by injured Calvin Bassey and Kenneth Omeruo in the game and didn't disappoint the coach who entrusted him with the task.

"He came to me and offered some encouraging words, acknowledging the challenge of representing Nigeria for the first time at the senior level," he added.
"He urged me to continue playing my game and strive for improvement."
Tanimu will hope to get constant call-ups into the Super Eagles squad and would also be in contention as the defender who could replace the ageing Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong in the team.
