Kenya are set to clash with Zimbabwe in the Four-Nations Tournament final in Lilongwe, Malawi, this evening.

Following a stunning 4-0 victory over hosts Malawi on March 23, the Harambee Stars enter the final match eager to add the Warriors to their list of victims and clinch the tournament trophy at the Bingu National Stadium.

After a tense 2-2 draw with Zambia, Zimbabwe secured a 5-6 penalty victory in their opening match.

This set the stage for an intense showdown between the two sides, a first since 2008.

Historically, Kenya has dominated Zimbabwe, emerging victorious in five out of ten encounters, with only one loss and four draws, as reported by Pulse Sports.

The highly-anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 6 pm Kenyan time.

With an eye toward the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast in June, Egin Firat's men aim to secure a win to bolster their confidence and momentum.

Star striker Michael Olunga, who netted a brace against Malawi, as reported by FKF, is within reach of becoming the team's all-time leading scorer.

Three key factors have been identified that could tilt the scales in favour of the Harambee Stars.

Firstly, it has a favourable track record against Zimbabwe, with ten previous encounters resulting in five wins, four draws, and only one loss. Secondly, the prospect of defender Joseph Okumu facing his club teammate Marshall Munetsi of Reims adds an intriguing dimension to the match. Lastly, Zimbabwe’s recent struggles, marked by four consecutive draws in international matches since the lifting of a FIFA ban in 2022, hint at a fragile stance that Kenya might exploit.

Captain Michael Olunga confident of new players

Sports Brief reported that team captain Michael Olunga expressed confidence in the new players selected by head coach Engin Firat.

Under Firat's guidance, seven fresh faces were integrated into the team.

The forward stressed the significance of including new blood, recognizing the hard work and dedication each player brings to the table.
