As reported by Pulse Sports, they include Dhofar Club's Alphonce Omija, AFC Leopards assistant captain, Kayci Odhiambo, Tusker FC defensive midfielder, Chrispine Erambo, Murang'a Seal's goalkeeper, Bonphas Munyasa, Gor Mahia winger, Shariff Musa, Bandari striker, David Sakwa, and Jonah Ayunga, who plays his club football in Scotland for St Mirren.

Addressing the media from Utalii Grounds on March 19, Olunga shared his optimism, noting the positive atmosphere within the camp. He stressed the significance of including new blood, recognizing the hard work and dedication each player brings to the table.

“We are good, the players are good, and the feeling in the camp is great. There are some new faces, some receiving their first call-up, it’s a combination of different players, but that’s the beauty of it. The national team has room for every player who works hard and deserves it,” he said, as captured by Sports Brief.

The team play hosts Malawi at the Bingu National Stadium on Saturday, March 23, as reported by FKF.

Olunga is eager to see what the new players have in store, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 AFCON qualifiers coming up later in the year.

“It’s a good opportunity to bond the team, try to see the abilities of the new players and I believe it’s going to be good preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers,” the captain explained.

Apart from Malawi, Kenya will have formidable opponents in the tournament, including Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.

Olunga beats Messi, Osimhen in top goal scorers list

Sports Brief reported that Olunga beat the likes of Lionel Messi and Victor Osimhen in the top goal scorer's charts after bagging 35 goals for club and country in 2023.

He helped Al Duhail win the Qatar Stars League for the eighth time in May and took home the Golden Boot after scoring 22 goals.

20 goals came in the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.
