Bright Osayi Samuel Speaks Out on Fan Altercation During Chaotic Fenerbahce vs Trabzonspor

Nigeria international, Bright Osayi-Samuel, has broken his silence about his violent altercation with fans during a heated Turkish Super Lig derby game.

The Fenerbahce defender was seen having a physical altercation with a Trabzonspor pitch invader after all hell broke loose at the Papara Park in Trabzon.

Fenerbahce were cruising in the game after taking a 2-0 lead in the first half. However, they were pegged back by a resilient Trabzonspor side, who levelled matters in the 78th minute.

Former Chelsea striker, Michy Batshuayi, then scored the winner for the Turkish giants, but the home supporters were clearly not happy with the crushing defeat.

At the end of the game, rival fans invaded the pitch and started attacking Fenerbahce players. In videos posted online, Osayi-Samuel was seen swinging at a fan during the fracas.

He commented on his actions, via Complete Sports:

"Some people say what I did was not self-defence. If someone comes at you with a knife in his hand, how can this not be self-defence? They came to the field from the stands.

"I only had to defend my team and my friends there. Many of my teammates were coming into the locker room with cuts and bruises," Osayi-Samuel added.

Many Trabzonspor fans continued storming the pitch, forcing players to run for safety.

As Sports Brief also recently reported, Osayi-Samuel could be arrested in Istanbul when he returns to Turkey after his international engagements with the Super Eagles.

The fan he clashed with during the league game has reportedly initiated legal action against the Nigerian and some of his teammates over the incident.

The fans lauded the Super Eagles star for defending himself during the scary incident with fans, but he could still end facing serious sanctions.
