  • Mateo Messi showed some love to Enzo Fernandez in a viral video
  • Lionel Messi’s son became emotional during the 2022 FIFA World Cup
  • The younger Messi has been making waves at the Inter Miami Academy

There’s no denying the fact that Mateo Messi is a hardcore Argentina fan.

Lionel Messi’s son watched La Albiceleste capture the World Cup title in Qatar in 2022.

It isn’t a complete surprise, then, to see the younger Messi show some love to one of the key players of that championship-winning squad in a now-viral video.

In the clip, Mateo was asked to identify a player whose name starts with the letter F. He gathered his thoughts for a few seconds before answering Enzo Fernandez.

The answer drew plenty of cheers from his teammates at the Inter Miami Academy.

Lionel Messi has previously talked about Mateo's love for the Argentina national team. He told reporters following their win over Mexico in the 2022 FIFA World Cup that his son Mateo left the stadium crying after their loss to Saudi Arabia, per The Mirror.

He further explained his son's anguish, saying, "My family suffers the same as all Argentines."

Messi and Fernandez helped ease Mateo's concerns in the game against Mexico, scoring the goals in their 2-0 win. That started a six-game unbeaten run, which culminated with Argentina winning their third World Cup title.

Mateo has followed in his father's footsteps, joining the Inter Miami Academy to hone his football skills, per People Magazine.

A video of Mateo dropping his defender before unleashing a right-footed strike for the goal also went viral last month.

Inter Miami struggle without Messi again

Sports Brief recently reported on Inter Miami suffering an embarrassing loss to the New York Red Bulls.

The Herons lost 4-0 to the Red Bulls as they once again struggled without the Argentina captain.

The 36-year-old has been sidelined the past few games because of a muscle injury. He last played for Inter Miami in the CONCACAF Champions Cup against Nashville SC.
