  • The Black Stars lost to Nigeria in a friendly match in Morocco

Newly-appointed assistant coach of the Black Stars, John Paintsil, has been all over social media following his initiation dance as a new member of the Ghana team.

The former Ghana international was named the second assistant to coach Otto Addo before the international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in Morocco.

Painstil and the technical team supervised their first game against the Super Eagles on Friday as Ghana lost 2-1 to Nigeria.

However, it was his initiation dance that took centre stage in Accra after it was shared multiple times on social media.

In the video, Painstil is seen twisting his waist as he entertains the team during their meeting in Marrakech.

The initiation dance is part of the activities of the senior national team of Ghana, where new players and coaches are allowed to perform to their favourite song.

The former West Ham and Fulham player made 82 appearances for the Black Stars and was part of the 2006 and 2010 World Cup squads, per Transfermarkt.

His appointment as assistant coach came with some controversy following his comments on a television show in Ghana.

However, he is expected to help Addo build a strong team capable of winning the Africa Cup of Nations.

Painstil's movie cameo photos trend

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Ghana defender, John Painstil trended following his appointment as the new assistant coach of the Black Stars after photos of his time as an actor popped up online.

His inclusion into the new backroom staff of the senior national team has raised questions with followers of Ghana football doubting his coaching expertise.

While others have doubts over his abilities, it is his role in a Ghanaian move that has dominated social media.

Essien rejects Ghana assistant coach job

Sports Brief also reported that former Chelsea midfielder, Michael Essien reportedly refused to accept a coaching role for Ghana's senior men's national team, Black Stars.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) recently announced the newly constituted Black Stars technical team two months after the Chris Hugton-led team were shown the exit door after a dismal showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
