In an interview after the game, as per All Nigeria Soccer, the 21-year-old defender reacted to his debut for the Super Eagles and extended his gratitude to people who supported his dream.

"I'm very excited, being my first appearance and first cap for Nigeria and I give thanks to God for making my dream come true," he said.
"I cannot imagine myself being here and with the big boys so I'm very, very happy. Thanks to God."

The former Bendel Insurance defender went ahead to thank fans for their support all these years on his X handle.

"Thanks to my wonderful fans across the world, the lovely Nigerians who have expressed their love and have given me their support all years," he added.

Tanimu would be up for selection for Finidi George in the next friendly game against Mali at the same stadium if he shakes off the knock he got against Ghana.

Finidi rates Tanimu’s performance against Ghana

Sports Brief earlier reported on Finidi George rating Tanimu's performance in Nigeria's win over Ghana on Friday.

The three-time African champions ended their 18-year winless run against the Black Stars, with Cyriel Dessers and Ademola Lookman scoring the goals to earn the victory.

Finidi also explained why the former Bendel Insurance defender was called up in the first place despite being based in Tanzania.
