A makeshift Arsenal team was thrashed 4-0 by QPR on Thursday, March 21 as several Gunners stars made a return from injury.

Mikel Arteta is looking to make the most out of the lengthy break, and this entails testing out some stars who are making a comeback from injury.

One such player is Takehiro Tomiyasu, who is getting back to full fitness for the first time since New Years’ Eve.

Tomiyasu was part of the team that lost 4-0 in the ‘secret friendly’ , and managed to get 45 minutes in the match.

Thomas Partey is another player who has been battling injuries and was handed 60 minutes against QPR, according to Metro.

The Ghanaian is back in the first team, and his first appearance since returning from injury came on March 4 against Sheffield United. He also played in the final few minutes of Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Brentford.

Details of the secret friendly

Sunsport further reports that the game took place in QPR’s training pitches, and majority of the starters for the Gunners were members of the U21 team.

One Arsenal player who is still struggling to recover from injury is Jurrien Timber, who did not feature in the friendly as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury.

Arteta will need all the personnel he can get for the remainder of the season as his side battles for the Premier League and Champions League.

They currently sit a point clear of Manchester City and Liverpool on the log with 10 games to go. Their next assignment is a crunch clash against Pep Guardiola’s side on March 31.

Arsenal sign wonderkid from Wolves

In other news, Sports Brief reported Arsenal’s signing of Brayden Clarke from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The promising defender will initially join Arsenal's Under-18 team as he hopes to come through the ranks.
