  • Mohamed Salah could miss Egypt’s upcoming friendly games in March
  • The Egyptian FA has been unable to contact the Liverpool forward
  • Salah left the Egypt team unceremoniously at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations

Mohamed Salah might not participate in Egypt’s upcoming camp in the next international break after all efforts to reach the Liverpool superstar have proven futile.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) recently announced that the 31-year-old forward is one of their seven foreign-based players chosen by new coach Hossam Hassan for the March friendly games.

According to KingFut, Liverpool has tried to convince the Egyptian FA to exclude Salah from the March international break due to the forward’s battle with injuries in recent times.

The former African Footballer of the Year has only featured twice for the Reds in 2024 after turning up to represent Egypt at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he returned with a hamstring injury.

Egypt will compete in the Winsunited Cup in the UAE during the March break alongside Tunisia, Croatia, and New Zealand.

Salah returns from injury again

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Salah is fit again and could feature in the club’s Europa League fixture against Sparta Prague on Thursday after recovering from a hamstring injury, Sky Sports reports.

Klopp admits the 31-year-old forward had to be included in the Reds squad for the knockout game owing to the injury crisis suffered by the English team as over seven first-team players were out injured.

Salah’s return will come as good news to Liverpool supporters as the club will hope the Egypt forward will gain full fitness before Sunday’s crucial clash against Manchester City in the Premier League.

Mo Salah’s injury status confirmed

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Liverpool received a significant injury boost on Wednesday as Salah was seen training with the first squad for the first time since the Brentford encounter.

The Egyptian has only made two appearances for the Reds in 2024 due to hamstring injuries, which forced him to leave his national team early as they competed in AFCON 2023.

Salah’s last appearance was on February 17, when he came off the bench to score as Liverpool beat Brentford 4-1 in the Premier League.
