  • Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes believes the rule needs changing
  • Diallo scored the winner as the Red Devils edged Liverpool in the FA Cup

Bruno Fernandes has proposed a major rule change in football after Manchester United's dramatic FA Cup win over rivals, Liverpool.

The Red Devils beat the Reds 4-3 after extra time during the Sunday cracker to book a place in the semi-final of the tournament.

Three of the goals were scored after regulation time, with Harvey Elliot, Marcus Rashford, and Amad Diallo getting on the scoresheet.

However, it was a moment involving Diallo that saw him sent off, which became a big talking point of the game.

According to SPORTbible, the Ivorian was handed his marching orders for taking off his shirt while celebrating his winner.

The youngster's red card came only moments after he had been yellow-carded.

Bruno proposes rule change

Fernandes has now proposed a rule change to players getting booked for taking their shirt off.

The Portuguese contended that such passionate celebrations as the one displayed by Diallo should not warrant a yellow card.

"It’s part of the moment and part of being young," he argued. "This moment has to be enjoyed and I think it’s one of the rules football has to change, because you should be able to celebrate the goal, obviously with respect to other clubs, to enjoy your moment."

Meanwhile, Man United's qualification for the FA Cup semi-final saw them set up a crunch meeting with Coventry at Wembley Stadium.

The winner of the tie will face the victor between Chelsea and Manchester City in the final.

Fernandes plays as centre-back

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Fernandes playing out of position in the FA Cup tie against Liverpool.

The United skipper was surprisingly deployed in defence and was seen taking position as a centre-back.

He is not the only player to have played out of position in the past, with Harry Maguire once being a striker.
