Manchester United have been brutally told they will lose the FA Cup final to Manchester City just hours after their memorable win over Liverpool.

United advanced to the last four of the competition in thrilling fashion as they saw off their arch-rivals 4-3 in an action-packed encounter.

Amad Diallo scored a 120th minute winner to send Old Trafford into wild celebrations just as the game looked to be heading to a penalty shootout.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand joined in the celebrations, posting a sunglasses emoji on X along with the caption: “Wembley”.

Jamie Carragher’s response

The tweet caught the attention of Jamie Carragher, who was obviously not pleased to see his former side’s quadruple hopes come to an end.

Carragher responded to Ferdinand’s tweet with a brutal claim, suggesting that United would suffer heartbreak in the final courtesy of their local rivals Manchester City.

"Relax. Manchester City will beat you comfortably in the final & ETH [Erik ten Hag] will still be in charge next season,” the ex-Liverpool man responded, per talkSPORT
"It’s not the win you think it is!!"

The former Liverpool man’s tweet was also a subtle dig at Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea as he suggested the Blues would not make the final despite their decent run in the competition this season.

Who will Man United face in the semis?

The win over Liverpool could be the boost Erik ten Hag needs to save what has been an extremely disappointing season.

United will face high-flying championship side Coventry FC in the semis, with the winner set to face either Chelsea or current FA Cup holders Manchester City in the final, according to TheFA.com.

Chelsea advanced to the last four after seeing off Leicester City 4-2 in a thriller, while City secured a routine 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.

Amad Diallo on why he took his shirt off

Sports Brief also reported on Amad Diallo’s hilarious explanation on why he took his shirt off despite being on a yellow card on Sunday.

The Ivory Coast international had a bittersweet ending to the game against Liverpool as he scored the winner but was sent off for a second yellow card.

Diallo apologised to his teammates after the game as he explained his shirt celebration.
