According to Sky Sports, Chelsea paid an initial £40mil with £2.5m in add-ons to land the attacking midfielder.

Palmer went on to pen a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with the option of a further year.

The 21-year-old has gone on to form an important part of Mauricio Pochettino's team, playing a key part of the squad despite Chelsea's on-field struggles.

He was once again the man of the moment during his side's Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Monday night.

Palmer scored and assisted in the cracker as Pochettino's men sunk the Magpies 3-2 at Stamford Bridge to ease pressure on the Argentine.

Why Palmer joined Chelsea

The youngster once again details why he quit City for Chelsea in the wake of his impressive display against Newcastle.

Speaking after the match, the England international said, per Fabrizio Romano:

“I decided to leave City as I thought I was ready to play football week in week out. That's the reason I came to Chelsea," he said.
“I wanted to showcase my ability week in week out like I said. Thankfully it's paid off," he added.

Palmer made 25 appearances for City last season to help them secure a historic treble.

He also played a key part alongside Chelsea teammates Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke as England lifted the European U21 Championship.

Palmer debuts 'cold' celebration

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Palmer speaking on his 'cold' celebration after he scored against Manchester City.

The England star scored twice and produced an assist as Chelsea secured a 3-2 win over Luton Town on Saturday, December 30.

Noni Madueke was among the beneficiaries of Palmer's assists.
