As reported by BBC, the Saudi Pro League side were knocked out of the AFC Asian Champions League after suffering a penalty shootout defeat against Al-Ain.

The team from the United Arab Emirates won the shootout 3-1 and progressed to the semi-finals of the tournament.

While the Saudi side are naturally disappointed after being eliminated, Ronaldo believes the team will pick themselves up from the loss.

A rough night for Ronaldo

The loss wasn’t the only bitter pill CR7 had to swallow during the game.

The Portuguese star was taunted by rival fans, who chanted Messi’s name at him when he was involved in some action, and they chanted it again after Al-Nassr lost as well.

The former Ballon d’Or winner also failed to score from in front of the posts late in the second half. The incident soon began to trend online, as fans couldn’t believe he didn’t score.

What’s next for Al-Nassr?

With the disappointment of the Champions League behind them, Al-Nassr will now turn their attention to the Pro League and the King Cup.

In the cup, they have progressed to the semi-final, but in the league, they trail Al-Hilal by seven points.

Sports Brief also reported how one Al-Nassr fan criticised Ronaldo after his performance against Al-Ain.

The Saudi Pro League side were eliminated from the AFC Champions League, with Ronaldo missing a sitter.

Following the game, one fan launched into the Portuguese star, saying he needed to leave the club.
