  • Arsenal, Liverpool, and Man City are all leading the hunt for the EPL
  • Only one point is separating Arsenal at the top and City in third place
  • There are 10 fixtures left to conclude the 2023/24 EPL campaign

The 2023/24 Premier League title race is proving to be a closely contested affair.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all in a pole position to secure the crown at the end of the season.

With just 10 games left to end the season, there is hardly anything to separate the three teams at the top.

There is only a point between leaders Arsenal, who have 64 points and third-placed City, who have 63, with the Gunners level on points with second-placed Liverpool.

According to SPORTbible, Mikel Arteta's charges went top for the first time since Boxing Day after their 2-1 hard-fought win over Brentford on Saturday.

Hopes by Liverpool or City to topple them were dashed on Sunday after the two teams played out a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

What happens if Arsenal, Liverpool, and City tie on points?

In the event the three teams tie on points, with the same goal difference and goals scored at the end of the season, the Premier League would need to invoke several measures to determine the title winners.

Per the BBC, should that be the case, title winners will be decided based on the most points won in the head-to-head matches and then the most away goals scored in the head-to-head record.

Going by such a scenario, Arsenal currently have the edge, having already beaten Liverpool and City at the Emirates this season.

But whatever happens, plenty of twists and turns are expected as the campaign enters its homestretch.

The Gunners, for instance, are scheduled to play Pep Guardiola's charges at the Etihad Stadium in their next league outing scheduled for March 31.

The tie has been touted as a possible title decider, with both teams expected to eye a positive result to increase their title-winning chances.

Has the title race been this closely contested?

Incidentally, this won't be the first time we are witnessing a closely-contested three-horse Premier League title race.

During the 2013/14 season, only two points separated Liverpool, City, and Chelsea as late as May.

The Citizens were eventually crowned the champions after they won their game in hand to see off Liverpool, whose campaign was characterised by the infamous Steven Gerrard slip.

In April 2002, an almost similar scenario occurred when Arsenal led Liverpool by a point, with Manchester United third by a further point.

The north Londoners went on to win the crown after an impressive streak of 11 consecutive wins and a memorable victory over the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Earlier, Sports Brief analysed on the winners and losers after the Liverpool vs Man City draw.

The Gunners and their fans will be feeling ecstatic this morning as they woke up with the Premier League lead with just 10 matches remaining this season.
