  • Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City vie for the 2023-24 Premier League title
  • The Gunners are back on top after Liverpool shared honours with Man City at Anfield
  • Here is how the remaining fixtures of the three clubs stack up against each other

With just a single point separating the Premier League's top three teams and 10 games left to play, the race between Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City is shaping up to be an exhilarating contest.

Following Sunday's intense 1-1 draw at Anfield, Pep Guardiola's side sits in third place, trailing Arsenal by only a point, who currently lead the table on goal difference ahead of Liverpool.

City's upcoming league fixture against Arsenal at the end of the month will be crucial, with tough matches against Aston Villa and Tottenham on the horizon.

The draw on Sunday marked only the second instance where the defending champions have faltered in the league since mid-December. Spanish midfielder Rodri expresses confidence in the team's ability to embark on another winning streak.

Sports Brief examines the current standing of each contender and analyses how their remaining fixtures stack up against each other.

Arsenal - 64 points

The Gunners boast an impressive eight straight league victories in 2024, notably defeating Liverpool 3-1 in January. Under Mikel Arteta's guidance, they've netted an impressive 33 goals during this run, securing a healthy goal difference advantage over their rivals, a factor that could prove decisive.

With their next league fixture three weeks away, Arsenal's upcoming clash with City on March 31 poses a significant test of their progress over the past year. Memories of last season's 4-1 defeat at the Etihad serve as a reminder of their past struggles in the title race despite leading for much of the season.

A year later, Arsenal appear more mature and boasts a deeper squad to handle the pressure of pursuing their first title in two decades.

Summer acquisitions Declan Rice and Kai Havertz proved their worth by scoring in a tense 2-1 victory over Brentford last Saturday, with Havertz's decisive goal coming just four minutes before the final whistle. Despite this triumph, a string of challenging away fixtures awaits, starting with their daunting visit to City.

Arsenal's road ahead includes tough matches against north London rivals Tottenham, and Manchester United, as well as clashes with Brighton and Wolves.

Despite their second-half dominance, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool settled for a thrilling 1-1 draw against City on Sunday. Nonetheless, the Reds boast the most favourable remaining fixtures as they bid farewell to their manager at the season's end.

Klopp's adept management has steered Liverpool toward a potential quadruple, defying injury setbacks that would have derailed other clubs' title ambitions.

Though key players like Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Diogo Jota remain sidelined, Klopp welcomes back Mohamed Salah, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez have made recent starts. However, Liverpool must navigate a packed schedule, balancing their title pursuit with the Europa League and FA Cup campaigns.

Their upcoming FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United precedes a league rematch at Old Trafford next month. Additionally, facing Everton in a local derby poses a challenge, as does encounters against Champions League-chasing Tottenham and Aston Villa in the final stretch.

Fixtures to come:

March 31: Brighton (H)

April 4: Sheffield United (H)

April 7: Manchester United (A)

April 14: Crystal Palace (H)

April 27: West Ham (A)

May 4: Tottenham (H)

City's ambition is to secure an unprecedented fourth consecutive English top-flight title, drawing strength from their experience in closing out seasons.

Pep Guardiola acknowledged his team's resilience in weathering a formidable Liverpool onslaught, securing a crucial point at Anfield to keep their title hopes alive. Amidst a pivotal month, City hosts fourth-placed Villa shortly after facing Arsenal at the Etihad.

Looking ahead, if they maintain proximity to the summit in early April, City will back themselves to challenge for the top spot, with only a visit to Tottenham presenting a significant obstacle among their remaining eight fixtures.
