  • David Raya remained in sole possession of first place in the Premier League clean sheet race
  • Andre Onana grabbed a share of second place after claiming an eighth shutout this season
  • He tied Ederson and Jordan Pickford, who also have eight clean sheets so far this campaign

The race for the 2023-24 Premier League Golden Glove is heating up.

Andre Onana moved within one clean sheet of David Raya's lead following Manchester United's win over Everton.

Sports Brief looks at the goalkeepers with the most clean sheets this season after Onana’s latest shutout.

Most 23/24 Premier League Clean Sheets

1. David Raya (Arsenal, 9)

Raya failed to extend his Premier League Golden Glove lead on Matchday 28 after he was deemed unavailable to play in Arsenal's game against Brentford on Saturday.

A clause in his loan deal prevented the Spanish goalkeeper from facing the Bees in the Premier League over the weekend.

It was unfortunate timing for Raya, who recorded clean sheets in Arsenal's previous three away matches in the English top flight.

2. Andre Onana (Manchester United, 8)

Don't count out Onana from winning the Premier League Golden Glove in his first season with Manchester United.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper recorded his eighth clean sheet of the season on Saturday, shutting out Everton in the Red Devils' 2-0 win.

He made six saves against the Toffees to help United grab all three points.

2. Ederson (Manchester City, 8)

Ederson failed in his bid to grab a share of first place in the Golden Glove race on Sunday, allowing a goal in Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Alexis Mac Allister thwarted Ederson's shutout bid, scoring a penalty in the 50th minute. His last clean sheet in the Premier League came in the match against Bournemouth last month.

He went off injured soon after following a collision with Darwin Nunez inside the box.

The Manchester City star's status for their upcoming games remains uncertain, with Pep Guardiola sharing after the match that Ederson's injury doesn't look good, per The Mirror.

2. Jordan Pickford (Everton, 8)

It's quite amazing that Pickford is tied for second in the Golden Glove race, given Everton's struggles in the Premier League this season.

The Toffees are currently ranked 16th in the league table with 25 points, just four above the relegation zone.

Pickford's performances between the sticks have helped Everton keep afloat in the relegation battle, with the English goalkeeper recording clean sheets in the games against Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Burnley, Bournemouth, West Ham, Aston Villa, and Fulham this season.

Premier League title race update

Sports Brief recently reported on the Premier League title race.

The Gunners currently lead the standings with 64 points.

They are tied with Liverpool but boast a superior goal difference.
