  • Aaron Ramsdale conceded an embarrassing goal in the first half of Arsenal's game against Brentford
  • Ramsdale was a relieved man when Kai Havertz scored the winner late in the second half of the game
  • Arsenal are now top of the English Premier League table and are just a single point above Liverpool

Aaron Ramsdale is the most relieved man in all of London.

The Arsenal keeper had a moment to forget against Brentford, allowing The Bees back into the game, but thankfully, it didn’t matter in the end.

A late Kai Havertz winner ensured that he saved Ramsdale’s blushes and put the Gunners at the top of the English Premier League table.

Arsenal now lead Liverpool by a point and Manchester City by two, ahead of the showdown between those two sides tomorrow.

And while fans of the London-based team celebrated Havertz’s winner, Ramsdale was the most relieved by it, as his celebration showed.

Why Ramsdale was relieved

Arsenal was leading from the 19th minute thanks to Declan Rice and it looked like they would take the lead into the halftime break.

Yoane Wissa then bagged Brentford’s equaliser, thanks to an error by Ramsdale. The Arsenal keeper took his time on the ball after receiving a backpass but was quickly closed down by Wissa. The striker managed to get in front of the keeper before he could clear it and knocked the ball into the back of the net, GOAL noted.

Ramsdale also redeemed himself

Despite the howler in the first half, the keeper did prove himself in the second. Ramsdale made some crucial saves, including stopping an audacious long-range effort from Ivan Toney.

Comparing Ramsdale’s stats to Raya

Sports Brief recently compared the stats of Arsenal goalkeepers Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya.

Mikel Arteta signed Raya from Brentford, but the decision invoked mixed reactions from fans.

Raya was brought in after Ramsdale suffered a dip in form, and the two are battling to be number one.
