  • Jadon Sancho scored his first goal since his Bundesliga return on Saturday, March 9
  • The winger beat a defender twice before slotting home to make it 2-0
  • Sancho has come under criticism in recent weeks over his performances

Borussia Dortmund’s on-loan winger Jadon Sancho finally announced himself in the Bundesliga with an impressive goal, his first since returning to the Bundesliga.

With one win in their last three league games, Edin Terzić’s men were looking to capitalise on the momentum gained from their 2-0 win over Union Berlin the last time out.

Sancho was named in the starting XI as the loanee was handed yet another chance to show the form that saw him admired during his first stint in Germany.

Against Werder Bremen on Saturday, Dortmund took the lead through Donyell Malen, who adjusted himself to score from a rebound with an exciting overhead kick just after the hour mark.

Sancho gets first Dortmund goal

Seven minutes later, it was Sancho’s turn to impress the travelling fans as the 24-year-old scored a phenomenal solo goal.

After receiving the ball on the left, Sancho expertly used his pace to get past a Werder Bremen defender twice before closing in and slotting in the ball from an angle.

The Man United loanee did not appear too excited after the goal as he casually jogged away in celebration before being joined by his teammates.

This was the £73million Man United signing’s first goal in eight matches in the Bundesliga, and he will be hoping it serves as a prelude for better things for him.

It has not been an easy time for Sancho in his Germany return, as he is predominantly being played in the wide positions, instead of his preferred number 10 role.

Dortmund boss Terzic previously admitted he was playing Sancho out of position, but insisted there was a need to exercise patience.

“We know that not everyone is at 100 per cent. Jadon hasn't played for a long time, he lacks rhythm,” he said, per The Mirror.

How the rest of the game went

Dortmund suffered a setback towards the end of the first half after Marcel Sabitzer was sent off, forcing them to play the second half with 10 men.

Werder Bremen halved the deficit through Justin Njinmah, but the visitors held on for all three points.

Harry Kane sets 2 Bundesliga records

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on the two Bundesliga records set by Harry Kane after his masterclass against Mainz.

Bayern thrashed their opponents 8-1, with Kane grabbing two goals in the first half before completing his treble in the 70th minute.
