Harry Kane is proving to be one of Bayern Munich’s best buys.

The English striker has been scoring for fun in the Bundesliga and set two new records during the game against Mainz.

As noted by Eurosport, Kane scored a hat-trick as the defending champions thrashed Mainz 8-1.

The striker scored two goals in the first half before grabbing his third in the 70th minute. He also grabbed one assist, setting up Jamal Musiala with a beautiful cross-field ball.

Kane’s ruthlessness not only helped Munich to a win, but it also saw him set two league records.

The records Kane set with hat-trick

The former Tottenham Hotspur star made history with his hat-trick, setting two new records in the Bundesliga.

He became the first person to score two goals or more in eight games in their debut season in the league.

He also became the first person to score four hat-tricks in his debut season.

Kane closes in on Robert Lewandowski’s record

The Englishman’s impressive season in the Bundesliga has now seen him close in on a long-standing record set by former Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish striker scored 41 goals in the 2020/21 season, and Kane has nine games left to surpass that feat.

What does Munich’s win mean for the table?

The win saw Thomas Tuchel’s men close the gap to Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table to just seven points. The Bavarian giants have played a game more.

They have also opened up a bit more breathing space to VfB Stuttgart behind them.

Harry Kane makes Champions League history

Sports Brief previously reported how Harry Kane made history in the UEFA Champions League.

The Bayern Munich striker became the first Englishman to score 50+ goals in UEFA competitions.

Kane has now scored six goals for the German giants, while the other 45 goals was with Tottenham Hotspur.
