The Nigerian Football Federation is requesting qualified candidates to submit interest for the coaching position of the Super Eagles.
Following the expiration of Jose Peseiro's contract at the end of February, the NFF is in search of a new tactician for the team.
Despite guiding the team to a second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the federation failed to agree to new terms with the Portuguese.
Peseiro announced that he left his role as the team's head coach, saying it had been a great pleasure. He said, as per Channels TV:

"We concluded our contract with the NFF. It was a pride and honour to coach the Super Eagles.
"It has been 22 months of immense dedication, sacrifice, emotion, and enormous enthusiasm. We feel a sense of fulfilment."
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers returning in June, Nigeria are in search of a new manager. The NFF listed four requirements in a public vacancy advertisement.
The federation is seeking candidates with the following:
1. Relevant coaching qualifications.
2. Proven experience at the elite level of football management.
3. A successful track record in leading teams.
4. A knowledge of African football will be an added advantage.
Okpala wants Super Eagles job
Sports Brief earlier reported that former Nigeria midfielder and 1980 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner, Sylvanus Okpala, has put himself forward as the prime candidate to succeed Jose Peseiro.

The former midfielder, who won the AFCON for the second time as an assistant manager to Stephen Keshi in 2013, joins a growing list of retired Nigerian players, including Emmanuel Amunike, who have expressed interest in coaching the Super Eagles.
