  • Jesse Lingard is reportedly earning a hefty amount in South Korea
  • The former Manchester United forward joined FC Seoul in February
  • He is reportedly among the highest earners in South Korea

Former Manchester United man Jesse Lingard will be smiling all the way to the bank if his reported salary in South Korea is anything to go by.

Lingard, 31, finally found a new club after months as a free agent as it was revealed in February 2024 that he joined FC Seoul in South Korea’s K-League.

The move came as a surprise to many, especially because Lingard had previously claimed that at least 26 clubs showed interest in his services after he left Nottingham Forest after the 2022/23 campaign.

Since his move to South Korea, Lingard has treated his 9.4 million Instagram followers to glimpses of his lifestyle in the country, often sharing snaps and videos exploring the culture.

The K-league finally got underway over the weekend, offering Lingard a chance to play competitive football for the first time since April 2023.

But his debut for FC Seoul did not go as planned, as his side was beaten 2-0 by Gwangju. Lingard only managed a 13-minute cameo as a substitute, but he was grateful to be back on the pitch regardless, as seen in a post on his Instagram.

Lingard’s FC Seoul salary

According to The Mirror, Lingard’s wages have taken a significant hit compared to the £180,000 per week he was making at Nottingham Forest.

The former Manchester United winger reportedly makes £17,500 per week with Seoul, which equates to around £910,000 per year.

Despite the relatively low wages, Korea JoongAng Daily claims Lingard is the highest earner in the South Korean top flight, and this is expected to be the case for the next few years as he signed a two-year deal with FC Seoul.

What next for Lingard?

Lingard will hope to put up a better performance for his side when they face Incheon on Sunday, March 10.

Ex Man United players who fell off

Sports Brief also highlighted some Manchester United players whose careers took strange turns after leaving Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba headlines this list following his four-year ban from football after he tested positive for a banned substance in 2023.

David de Gea, who left United in 2023, is yet to find a new club.
