The ongoing contract drama between Jose Peseiro and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) continues to dominate conversations across the Nigerian football scene.

This unexpected announcement has sparked speculation about who will fill the vacant coaching position, with several top coaches from around the continent being linked to the role.

However, according to a report from OwnGoalNigeria, the NFF have since offered coach Peseiro an improved contract and terms, indicating that they are keen to retain his services.

NFF offering improved contract to Peseiro?

The report claims the NFF have sent an improved contract offer to the 63-year-old, after failing to reach an agreement before the expiration of his previous contract.

According to the report, Peseiro is seeking a salary in the range of $120,000, as well as compensation for his first assistant, marking a significant increase from the $50,000 he received under his previous contract.

In response, the NFF has made an offer in the region of $80,000 to the former Real Madrid assistant manager. Additionally, it was noted this offer has the endorsement of the current Minister of Sports, John Enoh, who shares a close relationship with Peseiro.

However, the report concludes by pointing out that the Portueguese tactician has yet to react to the latest offer, meaning he could turn this down as he evaluates other opportunities from various African countries.

Nigerian coaches to replace Peseiro

In another report, Sports Brief highlighted a list of Nigerian coaches that could replace Peseiro following the end of his current contract.

Among them is the current assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George, along with several other tactically astute managers.

The former Sporting CP coach announced the conclusion of his reign as the Super Eagles coach at the expiration of his contract on March 1.
