Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface are set to battle it out for the biggest prize in the 10th edition of the Nigeria Pitch Awards after the organisers announced the nominees for the 2023 edition.

The Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen forwards have been nominated for the awards owing to their outstanding seasons for their respective clubs in Europe.

According to Premium Times, Osimhen is the player with the highest nomination this year’s awards after the 25-year-old was shortlisted in four award categories including the ‘Striker of the Year,’ and ‘Sportsmanship of the Year’ awards.

Boniface got two nominations for his outstanding season in the Bundesliga, while serial African Women Footballer of the Year and former Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala also got a nomination.

Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Wilfred Ndidi are some other players who also bagged a nomination for the award to be staged later this year in Lagos.

Napoli demand €130million for Osimhen

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Napoli are asking a massive sum of €130 million from English Premier League giant Chelsea for the signing of Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen.

The 25-year-old Nigerian is at the top of the Blues' shopping list this summer, as they want to strengthen their attack after a disappointing 2023/24 season.
