Trey Nyoni made history on Wednesday, becoming the youngest Liverpool player to compete in the FA Cup.

He joined other teens who got to play in the oldest football competition in the world.

Youngest players in the FA Cup

1. Paris Hamilton-Downes

Hamilton-Downes became the youngest player to compete in the FA Cup on November 9, 2019, suiting up for Carshalton Athletic at the age of 13 years, 11 months, and one day in the first round, per TransferMarkt.

His team suffered an early exit, with Carshalton Athletic losing 4-1 to Boston United in that contest.

2. Chris Rigg

Rigg became the second-youngest player to participate in the FA Cup on January 7, 2023, suiting up for Sunderland AFC at the age of 15 years, six months, and 20 days in the third round against Shrewsbury Town.

They won that contest 2-1.

3. Willie McDonagh

McDonagh is now the third-youngest player to compete in the FA Cup, suiting up for Carlisle United at the age of 15 years, six months, and 25 days in the first round against Oldham on November 8, 2003.

His FA Cup debut ended in defeat, though, with Carlisle United losing 3-0.

4. Luke Freeman

Freeman is now the fourth-youngest player to participate in the FA Cup, suiting up for Gillingham FC at the age of 15 years, seven months, and 19 days in the first round against Barnet FC on November 10, 2007.

His team suffered an early exit, though, with Gillingham FC losing 2-1.

5. Brendan Galloway

Galloway is now the fifth-youngest player to compete in the FA Cup, suiting up for Milton Keynes Dons at the age of 15 years, seven months, and 26 days in the first round against Nantwich Town FC on November 12, 2011.

He helped MK Dons record a convincing 6-0 victory in that contest.

6. Femi Orenuga

Orenuga is now the sixth-youngest player to compete in the FA Cup, suiting up for Southend United at the age of 15 years, eight months, and 11 days in the second round against Luton Town on November 29, 2008.

He helped Southend United record a 3-1 win in that match, per The Athletic.

7. Ollie Dewsbury

Dewsbury is now the seventh-youngest player to participate in the FA Cup, suiting up for Bristol Rovers at the age of 15 years, eight months, and 13 days in the first round against Whitby Town on November 4, 2023.

He helped Bristol record a resounding 7-2 victory in that contest.

8. Oscar Kelly

Kelly is now the eighth-youngest player to compete in the FA Cup, suiting up for Rochdale AFC at the age of 15 years, and nine months in the first round against Bristol Rovers on November 5, 2022.

His team lost that contest 1-0.

9. Lee Holmes

Holmes is now the ninth-youngest player to participate in the FA Cup, suiting up for Derby County at the age of 15 years, nine months, and two days in the third round against Brentford FC on January 4, 2003.

His team lost that matchup 1-0.

10. Giorgio Rasulo

Rasulo is now the tenth-youngest player to compete in the FA Cup, suiting up for Milton Keynes Dons at the age of 15 years, nine months, and 21 days in the first-round replay against Cambridge City on November 13, 2012.

He helped MK Dons record an emphatic 6-1 victory in that contest.

What is Nyoni's current ranking?

Nyoni made his FA Cup debut for Liverpool at the age of 16 years, seven months, and 29 days. The midfielder is ranked 43rd on the list of youngest players to compete in the FA Cup.
