Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star, Khama Billiat, was formally welcomed to Yadah Football Club at the Heart Stadium on Thursday, February 29, amid a sea of enthusiastic supporters.

Billiat, who left CAPS United to join Ajax Cape Town 14 years ago in July 2010, has returned home, signing a one-year contract with Yadah, with the possibility of extending for another year.

Among the throngs of fans welcoming the former Premier Soccer League star back were his mother and sister, adding to the emotional resonance of the occasion.

The 2016 CAF Champions League winner expressed gratitude and excitement about returning to familiar turf.

"I really appreciate it and I’m going to enjoy it. Yadah is a special team. I am happy to be here. This is the only place I have been coming to in Zimbabwe over the years, it’s like home to me," Billiat told Soccer24, as quoted by iDiski Times.

Having been without a club since departing Kaizer Chiefs last season, Billiat's move marks a new chapter in his illustrious career.

Financially, the forward's decision represents a significant shift, with reports indicating a considerable reduction in salary compared to his previous earnings at Amakhosi.

Renowned for his contributions to South African football, particularly during his tenure at Sundowns, Billiat’s return to his roots is met with anticipation and excitement from fans and pundits alike.

He was reportedly earning R850,000 at Chiefs. At Yadah, his salary will be significantly less. FAR Post reports the Zim star will still earn around R95,500 [$5 000] per month, still making him the highest earner in the league.

Former SuperSport FC stars following Billiat

Sports Brief reported that two former DStv Premiership stars could mirror Billiat by making the transfer to Zimbabwe's Premier League.

Kudakwashe Mahachi, previously with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, is currently linked with a transfer to Dynamos FC or Yadah Stars.

Meanwhile, former Matsatsantsa forward, Evans Rusike, has also expressed interest in joining Billiat at his newly chosen outfit in Zimbabwe.
