- A Napoli attacker has hailed the Nigerian following his hat-trick against Sassuolo
Victor Osimhen’s return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has coincided with Napoli’s return to winning ways.
The Pertenopei, who only managed to win three of the eight fixtures they played without the forward due to the tournament in Ivory Coast, recently resulted in the sacking of coach, Walter Mazzarri, who had been appointed only in November.
However, Osimhen's comeback has coincided with the arrival of new coach, Francesco Calzona, and the team appears to be on an upward trajectory under the Italian's guidance.
In the three games Osimhen has played under the former Slovakia coach, the Nigerian has scored five goals, including the crucial equaliser against La Liga giants, Barcelona, and a sensational hat-trick against Sassuolo.

His stellar performance against the Neroverdi, which secured Napoli's first victory in six games, has earned him praise from teammate, Matteo Politano.
Politano hails Osimhen
The Italian midfielder, who provided two assists for Osimhen in their clash against Sassuolo, was full of praise for the 25-year-old when speaking to the press.
As reported by media outlet Brila.net, the 30-year-old stated,
"Victor [Osimhen] is a great player; obviously, it becomes easier when you have a forward-firing like this."
Napoli will be relying on their talismanic star as they seek to salvage what remains of their ailing season. Another stellar performance from the Nigerian against Juventus in their next Serie A fixture would keep them on track for their top-four ambitions.
Furthermore, the presence of the marquee forward provides Napoli with an outsider chance of securing victory in their UEFA Champions League away clash against Barcelona.
