Kaizer Chiefs have seemingly ruled themselves out of the running to sign Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, following his heroic exploits at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 27-year-old, who presently plays for DStv Premier League outfit, Chippa United, was one of Nigeria’s best players at the competition in Ivory Coast, keeping in all seven matches.
According to The South African, the goalkeeping duo of Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Peterson have signed a contract extension at Kaizer Chiefs, meaning the club is not in a hurry to sign any more keepers.
The Amakhosi have been rumoured to be one of the top clubs interested in signing Nwabali as they prepare to do away with club legend and former South Africa first-choice goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune.

Khune’s contract with Kaizer Chiefs runs out at the end of the season, and the club is unwilling to extend the deal of the veteran, who has been sidelined for most of this season after an act of indiscipline.

The 53-year-old urged the Nigeria keeper to make a big move now to not to regret it in the future, with the attention on him at its peak due to his exploits at AFCON 2023.
Chippa United has reportedly set an asking price of ₤2 million for the Nigerian goalkeeper, who lasted over 490 minutes without conceding during the competition.
