  • Andre Onana was outstanding for Manchester United against Nottingham
  • He kept a clean sheet as the Red Devils qualified for the FA Cup quarters
  • Fans have been drooling over his man-of-the-match performance

Andre Onana secured his 11th clean sheet of the season in the process, propelling Manchester United into the quarter-finals of the English FA Cup on Wednesday evening.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper was an impregnable barrier, thwarting Nottingham Forest's attempts as the Red Devils secured a record 48th appearance in the last-8 stage of the FA Cup with his stellar show in between the sticks.

Despite facing criticism earlier in the season, Onana appears to be regaining the form that earned him the title of the best goalkeeper in the UEFA Champions League last season.

While he frustrated The Tricky Trees, former Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro clinched a dramatic late winner, guiding Erik ten Hag's team into the next phase of the prestigious tournament, per Eurosport.

Onana's stunning performance for United

The Man United custodian delivered an outstanding performance, arguably one of his best in the team's colours.

Statman Dave reported that Onana achieved a perfect 100 per cent save percentage, making five saves with punches. Additionally, he completed 26 passes and executed six long balls during the match.

Fans shower Onana with praises

Following his outstanding performance, fans flooded social media with endless praise for the 27-year-old.

@TosynoSZN commended Onana for rediscovering his form:

"To be fair on him, Onana has been decent since he came back from AFCON."

@MaameAmaAdoma went a notch higher with her praise for the former Ajax goalie:

"He will soon be the best goalie in the world."

A delighted United fan, @UTD_Hizzy, added:

"He’s back. The best goalkeeper right now in the world."

@Daily_booom singled out Onana for commendation in United's win:

"Onana really kept us in the game before we finally broke the deadlock!"

@ola_bode42 rated the Cameroonian high:

"My man of the match."

Cameroon legend backs Andre Onana

In a related publication, Sports Brief reported that Cameroonian football icon Patrick Mboma has voiced his support for Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, asserting that Onana ranks among the best in the world.

Despite facing criticism from United fans for his recent performances, including conceding what some label as 'cheap' goals, particularly after their 3-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove last September, Mboma stands by his compatriot's talent and abilities.
