  • Gift Orban recently completed a winter transfer to Olympique Lyon
  • The Super Eagles forward has struggled to find his scoring form recently
  • A former Arsenal forward has backed the Nigerian to rediscover his goalscoring form

Gift Orban has not had the blistering start at Olympique Lyon many had anticipated he would when he completed his €13 million transfer in the winter transfer market.

The 21-year-old, who dominated the Belgian Jupiler League with his goalscoring prowess, was largely anticipated to replicate his sizzling form at the struggling Ligue 1 giant when he completed his transfer from KAA Gent.

However, Orban has failed to hit his stride, which has since led to a flurry of criticism being meted at him.

The Super Eagles forward did little to save himself from these critics when he again made an error that led to a goal and his subsequent substitution at halftime during the Ligue 1 clash against Metz.

Nonetheless, amid this endless criticism, a former Arsenal striker has expressed confidence in the Nigerian to return to his goalscoring form.

Ex-Arsenal star back Orban

According to French media outlet ButFootballclub, former Arsenal forward, Alexandre Lacazette, has voiced his support for the Nigerian player, highlighting his belief that Orban is aimed on regaining his goal-scoring form and helping the team.

Lacazette remarked, "I believe he's in a good place. He has a weird side, often speaking with a touch of irony that might be missed by some initially.
Initially, some people might have found it strange, but he's actually quite humorous. He wants to help the team to improve. He is hungry for progress and to contribute to the team's success by scoring goals. He's focused on progressing and lifting the team in the standings."

Orban has made six appearances for Pierre Sage's side so far, scoring one goal in the Coupe de France match against Lille.

Orban scores brilliant goal

Sports Brief in a previous report stated Super Eagles forward, Orban, scored a goal in Lyon’s round of 16 cup tie against Lille.

The 21-year-old latched onto a beautiful pass from midfielder, Rayan Cherki, before completing a mazy run from about 40 yards out and cheekily lobbing the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.

Orban's brilliance ignited a frenzy on social media, with fans quick to laud his exceptional talent and skill.
