Golden Arrows have taken steps to bolster their squad by submitting an official proposal to acquire Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Ismail Watenga.

Currently ninth in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) with 23 points from 17 games, Mabhuti Khenyeza's side has faced challenges since their 3-0 loss to AmaZulu FC in the Carling Knockout Cup last November, which initiated their losing run.

The club's management has acted swiftly in response to the 'mini-crisis, submitting a formal bid to Sundowns for goalkeeper Watenga, who is currently on loan with the club.
Despite being sidelined due to injury, the shot-stopper has been a part of Arrows since the beginning of the season, and the club is keen on securing his services permanently, as reported by Far Post.
In the absence of Watenga, Khenyeza has relied on Sifiso Mlungwana and Nigerian goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode, who was signed from Sunshine Stars at the start of the season. However, Kayode has struggled for playing time, featuring in only one match during the Carling Knockout Cup.
Their fourth-choice goalkeeper, Nkosingiphile Gumede, has also made a solitary appearance in the Knockout Cup, where they defeated Cape Town City 3-1.
