Promising talent from the Varsity Cup scene, Heaven Prince Julius Sereetsi, has reportedly sealed a deal with Cape Town City FC.

While Orbit College and Upington City clinched promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Sereetsi's talents didn't go unnoticed.

His rise to prominence began with his stellar performances in the North West ABC Motsepe league, where he earned recognition as the league's top player last year.

Recent reports reveal that the 'Blue and Gold Army' are finally finalising Sereetsi's transfer.

The young talent has already landed in Cape Town and commenced training with the club, as reported by iDiski Times. Negotiations are said to be underway regarding his academic commitments, as he is in the final stages of his studies.

Meanwhile, the Citizens have taken further steps to fortify their midfield, extending Taahir Goedeman's contract by an additional four years, as reported by Far Post.

Cape Town City bolstering their squad

Goedeman's journey with the club has been marked by steady progress and impactful performances. He has proven himself a valuable asset, from his breakthrough in the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season to his consistent presence in Eric Tinkler's lineup.

With 58 appearances across various competitions, including crucial goals and assists, he has become a linchpin in the team's midfield.

Furthermore, the club is reportedly pursuing former Leicester City player, Khanya Leshabela, a versatile talent with valuable experience from loan spells and first-team appearances.

Their upcoming fixture in the PSL is against Chippa United, as they sit second on the league table with 29 points, trailing Mamelodi Sundowns by nine points.

Despite postponing their home tie against Moroka Swallows, Cape Town City remains focused on maintaining their momentum and challenging for the top spot.

Cape Town City snap Kaizer Chiefs record

Last October, Sports Brief reported on City defeating Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in the PSL thanks to a goal by Khanyiso Mayo.

Coach Tinkler’s men have habitually beaten Amakhosi of late and continued that trend in their FNB Stadium clash.

Mayo netted for the Citizens in the second half of the game after he headed home from a Darwin Gonzalez cross.
