FootballJadon Sancho Slammed by German Media After Shambolic Performance in Dortmund’s Defeat to Hoffenheim
- Jadon Sancho’s loan spell at Borussia Dortmund is not going to his plans
- The winger had another dull day in Dortmund’s 3-2 defeat to Hoffenheim
- German media brutally criticised him for another below-par performance
Jadon Sancho’s cameo for Borussia Dortmund on Sunday left German media labelling him as the ‘worst player on the pitch’ in a brutal assessment.
The 23-year-old has not had an ideal return to Germany since his loan move from Manchester United in January 2024.
After providing an assist in his first game back against 20th-ranked side, Darmstadt, Sancho has blanked in subsequent games, including Sunday’s clash against Hoffenheim.
These sorts of performances were always bound to attract criticism, and once it came, it was unrelenting.

German outlet, Der Westen, wrote a scathing piece about Sancho, describing him as the ‘worst player on the pitch’ to refer to his performance at Signal Iduna Park.
"BVB was so happy when Jadon Sancho was brought back during the last winter transfer period. The prodigal son is finally back," the report read.
The report continued about how Sancho's arrivals sent the fans into 'a state of euphoria'.
"A few weeks later, there is no sign of it anymore. Against TSG Hoffenheim, the supporters hoped that the 23-year-old would finally score his first goal.
"But they were disappointed once again. The BVB star showed another poor performance against Hoffenheim and was probably the worst player on the pitch."
After playing for 75 minutes, Sancho, who failed to register a shot on goal or a meaningful cross, was replaced by Jamie Bynoe-Gittens with his team trailing 3-2.
Hoffenheim secured a famous win to move to 30 points on the log, as per the Bundesliga website.
What next for Sancho and Dortmund?
Sancho’s recent performances have cast a shadow over his position in the German side's starting XI under Edin Terzic.

The Bavarians remain eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen, while also being in danger of exiting the Champions League campaign.
