Both teams had loads of chances to get the job done earlier on, with Van Dijk and Raheem Sterling both having their efforts chalked off by the VAR.

Whereas Chelsea's defeat may have left their fans dampened, it is a feeling the fanbase is getting used to.

Chelsea's disappointing Cup record

The Mirror reports that the Stamford Bridge dwellers have now lost a record six major finals at the new Wembley Stadium in recent years.

Before the Sunday defeat, Chelsea had lost the Carabao Cup final in 2019 and 2022. The losses add to their four defeats in the FA Cup, which happened in 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Newcastle are the other team that have lost as many finals, with the Magpies recording five defeats in cup finals in their previous five appearances.

Their most recent loss came last season when they lost the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley.

Meanwhile, SPORTbible reports that Liverpool's Sunday triumph saw them become the most successful team in the Premier League with 68 trophies.

They will be hoping to add to the haul before the season comes to an end, with Jurgen Klopp's men firmly in three other competitions, including the FA Cup and the Europa League.

Enzo Fernandez mocked by Liverpool fan

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Enzo Fernandez getting restrained from going physical with a Liverpool fan who mocked him after the Carabao Cup final defeat.

The Argentine was part of the Chelsea team that lost the encounter on Sunday at Wembley Stadium, with the Blues missing out on their best chance at silverware.
