- Chelsea conceded a late header from Virgil Van Dijk to lose their sixth final at Wembley Stadium
Mauricio Pochettino failed in his pursuit to win a first trophy on English soil after Liverpool beat his Chelsea side in the Carabao Cup final on February 25.
Liverpool needed a 118th-minute header from Virgil Van Dijk to get the better of Chelsea for the second time in a month and bag the first silverware of the season.
It was a game depicted by fine margins, with Liverpool academy kids giving a good account of themselves after injuries to main players left Jurgen Klopp thin on options.
Chelsea arguably had the best chances of the game with Conor Gallagher, Cole Palmer, and Enzo Fernandez particularly guilty of missing high-profile chances.

What Pochettino did to Chelsea owner
After the final whistle, fans spotted a moment which could be a signal of bad blood between Pochettino and Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly. As the West London side went up the rails to receive the runners-up medals, Pochettino seemingly snubbed Boehly and went straight for the other co-owner, Behdad Eghbali.
Video footage, however, shows that the Argentine manager might have held Boehly with his left arm, though he did not make eye contact with the American owner.

The loss meant the new owners who took over in 2022 remained trophyless despite pumping more than a billion euros in transfer fees. Chelsea's chances of playing European football have also taken a massive hit. The FA Cup is their only remaining chance at silverware this season.
