  • Bernard Mensah continued his fine form in Saudi Arabia
  • The Ghanaian midfielder netted his tenth goal of the season
  • Al Tai suffered a huge defeat to Al Ahli on Saturday night

Ghanaian midfielder, Bernard Mensah, scored arguably the best solo goal in the Saudi Pro League this season after netting for Al Tai against Al Ahli.

The former Atletico Madrid player is enjoying an outstanding season in Saudi Arabia and has been one of the best players in the league.

Mensah scored his tenth goal of the campaign as the SPL strugglers succumbed to a disappointing defeat despite taking the lead.

In a video shared on social media, Mensah picked a pass from his own half before going on a sensational run, where he took on three defenders before firing home. The 29-year-old left two Al Ahli players crawling on the floor as he made the marauding run.

Meanwhile, Al Ahli responded just before half-time through former Liverpool forward Roberto Firminio, who finished off a brilliant Riyad Mahrez assist.

After the break, the Brazilian shot the visitors into the lead before Mahrez went from provider to scorer to make it 3-1 with nine minutes remaining.

Africa Cup of Nations winner, Franck Kessie, sealed victory with a powerful header two minutes from time, per ESPN.

Kessie scores on AFCON return

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Franck Kessie announced his return to the Saudi Pro League with a goal as Al Ahli strolled to victory against Al Tai to keep the pressure on Al Nassr and Al Hilal.

The Ivory Coast AFCON winner rejoined his teammates on Thursday after inspiring the West African nation to success on home soil.

Kessie was handed a starting place in Saturday's game at the Prince Abdul Aziz bin Musa'ed Stadium.

Mensah scores fifth hat-trick in SPL

Sports Brief also reported that Ghanaian midfielder, Bernard Mensah became the fifth player to register a hat-trick in the Saudi Pro League this season after netting three goals for Al-Tai against Al-Ettifaq.

The 28-year-old was in devastating form against the star-studded Al-Ettifaq and almost secured a point for the visitors at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium.

Mensah joined Al-Tai in the summer transfer window after leaving Turkish club Kayserispor, and scored his debut goal in the 1-1 draw against Al-Hazm last week.
